A bit excited
I have had in my safe a Witchita 308 silhouette pistol. I shot this match in the mid eighties, the only times it come out of the safe was to put some corrosion protection on it well last year I let it be known that it was for sale, got a phone call a couple of weeks ago from an enthusiast saying he was interested but had to sell a couple of rifles, I say what are you looking to sell he says a Sako S491 22PPC I say mmm I'm interested in this so long story short version I have a 22 PPC on the way. Permit is in and pics will follow when I get it.
I have a spare 20 barrel kicking around so have not discounted that option.
I will be looking for some good brass as it come with some 762x39 necked down but some of the had cracked necks i annealed the good ones and looking for a set of dies as well.
Cheers

Re: A bit excited
Gary, is it one of the original Sako factory 22PPC rifles, if its in good shape I would be tempted to keep it as original, or at least if you do go to 20 keep the barrel so if you ever do get around to selling, it would probably be worth more as a factory offering. BRT do PPC cases fully prepped, but they are over 2 bucks per case. If you really really really get stuck I have a couple of hundred 22PPC Sako cases. Dies, I use a Lee 6mmPPC full length die with the guts taken out as a bump die, have a Redding neck bushing die, seat with the Super Simplex 22 cal seater.

Sounds like one of those deals where everyone is happy with the result. Nice work. I agree with the humpy one about keeping the barrel.

New un-primed Sako 22PPC brass was on sale at Cleavers for 90.00 per hundred, dunno where there is any more, that's where I got my supplies.220 wrote:I think sako still do brass/ammo other than that Lap make 220russian brass but will probably cost you $2.00 a case and still needs to be formed/prepped.

If I was to screw a 20 barrel in I would do as Camel says and keep the 22 if I was ever to sell the barrel you have first option. Greg is your a repeater?chappo555 wrote:U lucky bastard. I love my sako 6ppc. L t me know if u want to sell the 22ppc barrel.

Re: A bit excited
Sounds like a good deal. Glad to see your not reducing your number of guns .
Some dies for sale here, depending on what you want. Ammo further down as well.

Gary, I really don't want to sell any, but if you really get desperate I could possibly be convinced to part with 50 on a temporary basis.
