No worries mate, but your great granddad must have lived to a very ripe old age, you are fifty, so I imagine your father would have to be at least in his 70's, your grand father would have to be in his hundreds and your great grand dad would have to be at least 130, I didn't think they made those old timer knives back then, it must be the original old timer modelled on your great grand dad.

Mark it has no special significance to me. The rosewood handled BST was bought for me by my dad and the time I thought I had lost it resulted in almost total breakdown. I bought the little Schade for myself about 25 years ago but if it's important to you it's yours.

Not really important to me mate, but it would make a nice addition to the ones I already have. The two Dewey knives that I got for my 50th birthday will always remain with me, as will the two old Timer folders, they were 21st presents from two very special mates, unfortunately contact has been severed and I haven't heard of them for nearly 20 years.

But back on the topic of your little knife, I will pay for it if you have no longer a use for it. My original post on it was more tongue in cheek than really serious.

This is the second of two "knives" I used in my working days for hand clearing survey lines. The first was made in England but were no longer available after it was stolen out of the ute. This one was made as a copy for me in the workshop, design by memory, heavy gauge, double edged and ok for light timber and brush, eventually replaced by the bulldozer I wouldn't mind a pound/dollar for every mile/kilometer we cleared back in the day........good times:

Its not for sale as such but happy to give you a gift if it rounds out the collection. That would go instead of rum for board and lodgings next time I'm helping you burn your diesel in the paddocks

Frakka, they were using that type of knife to thin out thick stands of young Cyprus pine trees in some of the state forests not that many years ago, they now use fucken big brush cutters.
