Wanting help building a 17 BR
Hi all starting to try find information on this cartridge looking for a reamer to start off hopping to use my 22br redding bushings dies and work down with the bushings to .17 cal. This is my first time stepping out side my knowledge so any help would be much appreciated.

I think that's the way to go case forming. Just try ringing a few smiths to see who has the reamer. Start with Procal

Or order your own reamer from ptg or get the smith to do it.

Yeah, get the reamer yourself, will probably end up being a similar price.
But no electricity to run them.trevort wrote:Yes Andrew and they even have colour tv

Why not a mach4 or fireball? Or have you already committed to the BR boltface?

Re: Wanting help building a 17 BR
I think unless you can get heavy for calibre projies ie 35-40 gr+ a 17 BR would be way overbore.
There are far more efficient cartridges around in 17 cal.
The dimunitive 17 Hornet will push a 20 gr vmax to 3850 fps with 11 grains of powder.
The same projectile out of my 17 Machball does 4000fps with 20 grains
While in the 17 rem the 20grainer acheives 4200fps with 25 grains
That is a 350 fps gain while using double the powder
The only info I found on Saubier was 20vmax 28gr BM2 for 4191 fps
30gr kindler 28 gr BM2 for 4171 fps.
Also there is a load of 27.9 grs of N133 behind a 20 vmax for 4598 FPS
Good luck

I understand exactly what you mean. Just pushing the thought button is all. The post above from missed should hit the button aswell.Jmc wrote:I'm hopping to build the hole family of BR slowly love the case and how easy it is to work a load up for.

That's a good enough reason, that's why I did a 17ppc.Jmc wrote:I'm hopping to build the hole family of BR slowly love the case and how easy it is to work a load up for.
