Hi all getting ready to bed the Savage should be back soon with new barrel now how do I bed it with the barrel band?
Bed the action float the barrel to the band bed the band ?
Bed the action and barrel all way to the band ?
Or u guys might have better idea.

Can you get rid of the barrel band altogether ? Done know anything about the 340 rifles. Best is to bed the action and have the barrel floating from about an inch of the reinforce to the tip of the stock, at least two thicknesses of printer paper, or a business card.

From what I see no there is a recoil lug at front action then nothing after probably because the top action is open most of the way. Don't think it be strong enough to support the barrel.

Here's how you get rid of the barrel band, go to about 3/4 of the way down the page.
He drills the rear trigger guard screw hole all the way thru and brazes a threaded block to the trigger frame, anyway it's all here.

I had a 340 in .222, sold it, but now have a 30-30 with the factory side mount for the scope.
