Rushed in and didn’t think to cut it down, so now I’ll be up the ladder cutting a couple of feet off the top. Will use off cut to make a cap so I don’t get too much water down the tube

Done for the day

Got a bit more done today, was thinking of putting a couple of castors on one end to be able to move it a bit easier, didn’t have any so a dig around under the bench turned up a jockey wheel that I had for years. Was too long to turn the handle under the tank, hmmm, I should be able to shorten it, out with the dropsaw

Image

Measured the three parts and cut them in half, now fits perfectly , with a couple of modifications to the frame

Still waiting for my wheels to come from Griffith for the other end.

Chimney taken off, cut to length and chimney cap made and fitted

Image

Gotta do a bit of cutting and grinding then might give it a paint job using this stuff

No need for disappointment Dave, shopping trolley wheels are well known to never be the same, I would have had to go through hundreds if not thousands to find two wheels the same ImageImage

Not liking chucking anything away, I knocked up a rack for the back of the tank out of leftover rack pieces.

Image

It will serve two purposes, putting stuff on and holding the lid so it doesn’t go too far back

Image

Also dug our an 8 inch off cut 1” round dowel, bored it out and used another bit of leftover rack to make the handle

Nah, but its handy to have the gear on hand, you never know. Wonder how Safe Food would view these things, they might not appreciate the materials used.

Oh, he was there somewhere, probably hiding on his deer skin covered chair in the sun. Lazy bugger, but he is never very far from where I am. You gunna come out for the smoke test run, if so, bring a rack of ribs from one of your prime steers.

I just ordered three thermometers from some chink place, 14.62 bucks delivered, inc gst

Handle made from some bits off an old hills hoist.

Rippa is keeping an eye on proceeding, he loves that fallow skin and won’t sit anywhere else
