Checking that an empty case would fit into the Redding 222 neck bushing die, hmmmm very very tight fit and wouldn't go all the way in, so I figured that I would have to get the hole that the case neck goes through in the mid section of the die reamed out a bit. The bridge that the bush sits on is plenty big enough and the restricted part is only about 2mm thick, so not having access to anyway of doing it with a lathe, I wrapped some 600 wet and dry around a piece of 1/4 inch and chucked it up in the cordless drill, a bit of spit for some lube, and run this carefully into the tight hole, only took about 10 minutes, but now a case with a seated projectile will fit in with a tiny bit of room to spare.
That's one problem fixed, next I have to open up the neck part of my body die, that will be a pretty big job and might be better getting it done by someone with more skills and the right equipment. It may need annealing first though. :D

For my ai swede to fit in the redding swede dies i had my ai reamer run into the dies. Works perfect now. Maybe send the dies over to the guys who did the barrel chamber??

Cant remember who i used now...was the mob they do all the bullet moulds up in qld. Had em back in a week i think.

Mayber just a 25cal throater would do the job though as well?

I would reckon that the dies would be too hard to ream out, I think the bloke you are thinking of is David Cummins from CBE. :D

Yep thats him and don't think they were annealed and re hardened def did the trick. And with seater and neck die its not really under stress like a fls.

You blokes will have to be a little patient with me, I am old and doddery. Tomorrow

Mick, I no longer worry about spending time chasing, I know what happens after the chase and capture, it gets a bit ho-hum after a while.

Well tomorrow has finally dawned, and about halfway finished, so here are a few photos and a couple of observations for ewe mob. :P

First a side on shot of the action with scope mounted. Decided to put the old Kahles 6x42 on it, and not do anymore blueing on the scope as it kinda fits in with the rifle as it is. It isn't the prettiest, but then neither is the rifle or the owner, but they all work well and do a pretty good job.

I am very happy with the finish on the exterior of the barrel, way better than I could have ever done, and it was worth the extra to get it done at the gunsmiths. The action is as smooth as silk, seen a fair bit of work, but hasn't been abused, trigger has had a going over and is nice and light, but still safe enough. The set function on this trigger doesn't work, probably from when the sear was ground back to lighten the unset pull weight, but I never was one to like set triggers much.

Someone, for some reason that I cant for the life of me fathom, has ground back the bolt handle, probably read about Brno rifles having trouble clearing the ocular housing on some scopes, which in my experience just doesn't happen. But each to their own, it is pretty smooth and has been polished, Ill try blueing it at a later date, doesn't affect the function or anything like that, its just different

The bolt on the left is from a 1981 Brno 601 7mm08, put there just to show the differences. I don't know if the bolt shroud has been altered or if that was a factory change in manufacturing.
