i saw this thing on youtube.

looks alright,and will help me alot,cutting firewood and logs.
until i saw the price [in US$ + postage]
so i checked it out a good bit,then went down to dads shed.
so far ive made the main leg,hook and hook mount.
tomorrow i need to make the "T" foot and mount and the handle,job done.

That should turn out ok and be handy. Might be a project for me before next winter.

the hook shouldnt open past 90deg if you use the foot.
its a cradle for the log to sit in.
ill have to put a bit of steel to mine to stop this.
but...what the hell,if you dont have a go,you'll never know :wink:

got the job done,works well.
just got some touches to finish when i get home.
simplified design compared to the yanks,but will do the job nicely.

ill post some tomorrow mark.
when i used it on a 5" log,i found it didnt grab too good.
i may have to shorten the hooks length by about 2 " or so.
still got to drill a couple holes to drill and put a point on the hook + i might paint it.
i can do all this when i get home.

hook it still too long and i havent put a point on it.
still have to drill the hole in the extension bar for the pin.
still have to drill bigger holes for the foot and put some pins and clips into it.
maybe i will paint it,maybe not :roll: :lol:
