.260 loads with Hornady 143gn eld-x bullets

Post by SA Feral Shooter »

Hi folks, Iam interested in working up some loads for my .260rem using Hornady 143gn eld-x bullets but cannot seem to find much data on loads.
Does anyone know load data for this bullet?, will be using fed match primers and Lap cases but have not decided on powder yet.
cheers.

By all accounts they are essentially an Amax (close enough anyway).
I can have a look in Quickload if you like or just search the web for the latest Hornady manual.

Start with 40 gr of 2209 and go from there. Currently running 43gr with excellent results.

Even though this is for a 28" barrel and I'm using Berger 140 you can start with a load of 39.5 and go from there.
Also all the loads had a .020 thou jump to lands.
I found a accuracy node at 2650 FPS, it bug holes.

The next accuracy node was at 2800 FPS which gave me a slightly larger group at .720 thou
All groups were measured from outer edge to outer edge.

Chrono was a Magnetospeed V3
