Busselton last 1kBR for 2017

Post by Brad Y »

Finished up our season last Sunday. I got there a bit late and for some reason they had set up 900m icrfa aiming marks and used a 900m icfra target definition on the monitor. Not the real target but group size was easy to work and we just worked out scores for ourselves on the icfra system so I wont bother posting those.

Small group
B Yates 284 shehane 142.1mm
B Day 6.5x47 187.6mm
G Oates 308 198.6
B Evans 6.5x47 229.2
T Armstrong 6.5x47 246.9
C Day 284 shehane 262.8
A Dhu 308 292.5
K Sue 308 294.8
D Goldsworthy 308 407.7
W Oldfield 424.0
N Yates 448.0

Group agg
B Yates 179.6
G Oates 258.8
W Oldfield 461
D Goldsworthy 470.6
K Sue 378.9
B Day 262
T Armstrong 272.5
B Evans 286.6

Very happy with a rechambered 284 shehane barrel that wasn’t showing much promise until this time. Removing a fixed weight dampener and changing primers made a big difference. If only the first shot was in the group....

We have a new captain this coming year for benchrest and hopefully he can get it sorted a bit more to get more people and fingers crossed I can try to get him to push shooting on paper a bit more.

Yeah mate all off a bench. We are supposed to shoot on the proper IBS paper targets but since we were able to get IBS benchrest definitions on the Kongsberg systems, most guys would rather not pull targets.m as it means resultsdont officially count and potential records won’t either, but it’s a bit of fun anyway. We have seen some small groups this year, a 7 RSAUM taking the title with an 80mm 5 shot group. 308’s also doing well with some in the mid 100mm mark. Nobody has built a dedicated 1kBR rifle yet as the competition isn’t that fierce, but some of the days we shoot I think it’s possible to get well below the 3 inch mark
