Lowndsie, I have several old Uniden uhf radios that are just sitting around in the cupboard, think I have 4, they are just 40 channel ones but still work, interested ? Or anyone else for that matter.

Lowndsie price tag says $126 but special was $88 at jb hifi. I did no shopping around. They look like the one I borrowed last saturday

Be interested to see how they go in the big hills Trev. I've got a 5 watt and it struggles in some big country (big hills).

well they are small and plasticky, not like the unit I borrowed. Maybe bought a toy. we will see

Trevort, they are more than a toy and will do the job for short range work. Cheap enough that it is no major drama if you lose or bust it. If your buying again look at the 2 watt models as still fairly cheap but a lot better range.

Not waterproof but if you accidently give it a dunking dry it out asap and will probaby still work

speaking from experience.

Pretty well what Bruce said above, I had a pair of Oricom .7W handhelds that my son and I used to use. Very handy as long as range wasn't too far or country not too thick and at the time he was still a junior so kept him reasonably close by. Eventually they died and upgraded to 5W models (uniden), still the .7W's did what I needed and at the time that was all that mattered.
