Preditor calling Hares

Post by flyer »

This might sound weird, but its not for carnivorous hares.

I was reading an old SSAA shooting mag the other day and there was an article by a fella that uses a distressed hare preditor caller to get hares to inquisitively wonder up to his hide before he blasts them with a 12G.

Has anyone tried this and are the callers hard to get?

Its a very interesting concept.

never tried it either but i've read about it loads of times. Seems to be a fairly popular way of getting them. I've never tried cause any that I want to blast usually come along while out spotlighting for something else. But it would be alot of fun I can imagine.

I have heard it too.

The callers are the common "scotch predator" - hare version. Not "predator" is part of the brand name

My interpretation was that hares will come to see/assist another wounded hare rather than coming in for a feed - could be wrong though.
