Did some more work on this yesterday and today, was a scrounging day yesterday, went to Griffith and picked up my shaft, 5 1/2 ft of 20mm 316 stainless rod, bit bigger than I was told, but I don't see any critter I put on there bending it. Picked up a few pieces of 1/4 stainless rod as well from one of the engineer shops, cost a whopping 5.20 for four 300mm lengths, they will be used for a few things, one cut up to make the hooks the back legs are held onto the spreader with, one is the front leg spreader and the other will be turned into a U bolt to go around the spine at the last rib, then through the meat and secured on the outside with a saddle and a couple of wing nuts.

Also ran into an old fella who promised me a big bicycle wheel to fix onto the end of the main shaft.

Fixed the two side braces to take any wobble out of the stands.

Today, I made up the rear leg spreader, front leg spreader, thought out and made two height adjusters for the ends of the fire box, giving me 8 different heights 1 inch apart. Also welded a bolt that was the correct diameter, to go through the centre hub of the bicycle wheel, onto the end of the main shaft.

Some photos :

Main shaft with wheel attached and meat holders in place, also shows the end of one of the braces.

Height adjuster am going to use the 5/8th rod standing in it to be the bearing holder upright

Main shaft with meat holders and back leg spreader, still have to drill some 1/4 holes through the end for the hooks

Front leg spreader, 1/4 rod, big mudguard washers and locking collars I made out of some 3/4 inch rod, cut down, drilled end to end, then half drilled through sideways and tapped a thread to take the 1/4 bolts that were bent to make handles.

Next one is the rear leg spreader/holder with the holes drilled through the rod and 1/4 rod threaded and bent to go around the ankle bones,

Lots of stuffing around doing little bits and pieces, but am happy with the job so far, just need to get the wiper motor and work out how to mount it onto the end frame. I also cut a couple of tabs that fold down under the unsupported end of the racks to stop them dropping down too much.
