Taking the FWB124 out for a run

Post by curan »

I'm heading down to the local SSAA club to shoot the air rifle match tonight, and I've decided it is time to give the FWB124 a work out.

I won't be as competitive as if I took one of my other rifles, but what the heck. Let's go retro for a night......

Wish me luck!

Well, it turned out to be 15 out of 40 for the club's paper silho match.

Not to bad really. Working out the hold and getting 7/10 on chickens was the high point.

And the best bit was giving the younger blokes a go afterwards, and watching the reaction when they had recoil from an air rifle!
Most had only ever shot PCPs.....

:) :) :)

Good stuff Curan.

I reckon air gunners should spend a probationary period of a couple of years on springers before being licensed for PCP. I'm astounded at the number of people, at my club alone, who have no idea as to how a basic springer operates let alone a PCP. Because of my approach to the sport, I used to spend more time on other people's PCP problems than shooting.

Springer shooting is probably the best training any novice can have; AR and powder burning.

Did they know they were shooting an iconic springer?

Wonder what they'd make of the recoil of my Diana 350 Mag, or a Kodiak? 8)

Hi fellas,

I did explain it was 40 years old, and quite desirable in it's day, and also warned them that it had recoil.

I also explained that it liked to be "cuddled" into the shoulder.

They just never realised what that recoil felt like........

cheers, curan

Just remember to change how you hold when you go from AR to powder .
I have a vivid memory going from R9 to 30-06 off the bench .
