22/25/30 Cal pellets
I went to Herman's to grab some 25 cal pellets for the barrel I bought off Gavin and ended up walking out with a 30 cal barrel too. I have lined up the projies as I have never seen them side by side before.

The apparent size difference is more impressive than the basic numbers. The 30 looks twice as large as the 22.
A slightly off topic question but are .177 BB' (steel with whatever plating) still readily available. I haven't seen any for years and my 1982 supply is starting to run lowish.

The 30 is almost 2.5 times heavier than the 22.The Raven wrote: ↑Tue Aug 14, 2018 9:12 pm The apparent size difference is more impressive than the basic numbers. The 30 looks twice as large as the 22.

Hey Rave,
You can still get them. Raytrade bring Crosmans in for their Milo Tin construction Red Ryders. Haven't looked at the ACME site recently but I thought they had H&N ones. Definitely seen Crosman at dealers.
Update +5minutes.
OSA still bring Gamo bbs in and they are in stock at the warehouse. Couldn't see them on ACME website.

Thanks, I'll have to look them up my "Daisy Chest" of 5000 is down to it's last 1500ish. Doubt I can get them for the same price....if I recall correctly 5000 cost me less than $10USD in 1982-83.grmkc wrote: ↑Wed Aug 15, 2018 8:00 pm Hey Rave,

You may have seen my precision Daisy 840 at the last Daisy Pickin'. Sort of shoots on a curve but you can watch where the BB goes and compensate easily enough. I used to scare squirrels with it back in Texas... however it sort of annoyed rattle snakes, garter snakes and similar critters. Twas the style at the time.
Looks like this.
The finest plastic, foam, and tin rifle a man can have.....

I was asked to look at an 880 a couple of months ago. Plastic Fantastic heaven.
Took two screws off which release some tension on the action. The flipping thing fell to bits. What was cracked plastic became jig saw plastic.

Ahh, so you'll understand why mine tends to curve (aka horizontal ballistics).
From memory I used epoxy to give the screws something to bite into, but the whole action still flops to the right when you fire.
The plastic action hasn't decayed that far yet, which probably has more to do with whatever oil people tend to throw at them...

I love my Daisy 840, had it since new, 1980's hardly used it probably 100 shots if that, with scope and pellets it's surprisingly accurate and quiet.

Very nice!
I don't recall having a scope mount on mine or that a scope was even an option.

Nice little 4 x 15 Tasco rimfire scope from the states, comes with mounts already on and centered, just softly snug up onto the plastic rail and good to go, sometimes the simplest things are the most fun, good indoor / undercover target fun.

Daisy's eh?
I've had this since I was about 11 or 12 years old:
Just tried pumping it up. It doesn't seem to hold air.
A rescue mission is now underway...

Before doing any work Rabbitz, try what's in this link, all the Yanks do this with their pumpers when it doesn't hold air anymore.

Thanks Andrew,
It cant really hurt to give it a go.
Although I might try and clean out the felt 'seals'. They are quite gummed up.
(Who knows what I would've used at the age of 12, in my Dad's car mechanic workshop)

That .30 is huge!
I got some of these from the LGS recently for my 1978 Crosman 761XL.
