CZ 527 20VT on a budget plus DIY stock

Its finally happening.
My interest in the 20 VT started about 2 1/2 years ago and as part of that search I ended up finding Ausvarmint and a thread on Missed's 20VT. So after a bit of a side track with a Howa 204 and a Ruger No1 22/250 I eventually picked up a CZ527-2 in 222 a couple of months ago in good condition for $600.

After searching the net and especially Saubier I was after a CZ 222 because they have a shorter mag than the 223 by about 6mm and feed the 221 size without a spacer and it is a bit easy to load the mag as well. The CZ 222 bottom metal and mags are different to the CZ 223/204 parts, everything else seems to be the same. I stuck to the CZ so that it matches my CZ 223, this was despite having ago of Missed's nice Sako and its sleek lines.

I had previously bought Crackers take off Howa 204 barrel (just in case) that was on the 20 Practical he is now selling( nice rifle). So with a few peoples help and knowledge on Ausvarmint it is getting cut, rechambered and fitted very soon. I think that there are a couple of people that have it more organised and know what is going on than I do, thanks. This is my first attempt at a wildcat/semi custom/rebarrel.
To get the whole wildcat experience I have decided to make 20VT brass from some 223 brass. With lots of reading and some experimenting I worked out how to get to 221 size easily. So I picked up some once fired ADI 223 brass for 20c a piece delivered and am gradually prepping it.

I am depriming, wet tumble to clean, remove crimp, uniforming flash hole, anneal down to new shoulder length, size in 221 full length die with centre removed. This gives the long neck which I then rough trim to just over 221 length. I am waiting on some Redding type S neck dies and K&M neck turning gear. There is still a few stages to go but that is part of the process and I am enjoying it.

Some info on making the 20vt brass.
As the trimming of the long necks was going to be a big job I wanted to speed up the process but not spend any $. I looked around the shed and saw my non ferrous metal cutting blade for my drop saw . Started making a jig for a single case then thought bugger that and made it to hold a few more. I'll put a link to a video clip of it in action soon.

I cut them just over 221 length so the they can be trimmed accurately before neck turning and resizing to 20cal. A few hundred neck offcuts, to easy.

Nice job Bruce!

When I had to cut me 300 Whisper cases down I did something along the same line
but I used me table saw.
I just used a friction fit and a wooden finish blade in the saw.

Hmm lack of technical ability saw me use the trim die and hacksaw method, but you only have to do it once.
