Was going to be to old for third Olympics so retired after second. Rule changes made them eligible for third so after years of not competing started training again, lost 30 kg and just missed out on qualifying.
Yes some Olympic sports have age limits.
Another clue for you, captained their sport/team at second Olympics

Rules out my first two picks then. I'm sure we would have heard all about before it if it was torah or alisa.
Not australian flag bearer, must have just been flag for the sport

Awesome thread hijack Rob and James lets get away from the the sewage system talk and find out who it is Rob.
Sorry, couldn't help myself.
Am on the hunt already. Sydney Olympics I believe was the one they competed at. If memory serves their brother also competed at the same Olympics.
Did they qualify with 587 points and come 27th out of 48

So competed at 2004 and 2008 Olympics, age limit ruled him out for 2012, he turned pro after 2008 Olympics but retired from competition not long after. He was eligible for 2016 due to a increase in max age but his weight had ballooned out to around 100kg from his fighting weight, he will be ineligible for 2020 games due to age.

Am I on the right track?

Very interesting story.
Had a thought it might have been boxing as they are the only federation still with a weight limit in place.

While we are talking competition what does everyone do with the medals and trophies they have won over the years.
Have boxes of them in the shed, shame to throw them out but what can you do with them.
I did actually frame one along with competitors pass and podium pictures, not one of mine and hasn't stopped it getting buried behind other shit on a shelf.
I know there are plenty of blokes on here that have had a bit of success so have any of you found anything to do with them.

Some make it to official dust gathering status in a bookcase in the loungeroom and other stuff makes the not so prominent box in the cupboard.
