Re: tenterfield, folded tin with a couple of holes in it whistle
Well wrapped shitless with my whistle! Foxes I saw tonight thought a buffet had just been put on and come in runnin! Just out of curiosity how long do people find that a whistle is effective for on foxes in a certain area? My button one lasted about a month and then they started to get cautious and ...

Re: Looking to go centrefire
Oh it's all so tempting! Accountant would slap me if I got one right now so plenty of time for more thought! Would have loved any of those tonight as the fox I missed was just that little too far out for my lil hummer. BUT GEEZ THE OTHER ONE COPPED IT!! :auto: It's amazing how a bigger light complet...

Re: Looking to go centrefire
Thanks heaps Brad! Just what I was after. Well reckon I have been just about sold on a .223 now. Sounds pretty flat to me and that's what I am after. It has the versatility to take from rabbits to goats and roos and that is all I will ever shoot at or would want to. Now to decide if I should buy new...

Re: Looking to go centrefire
Thanks brad I was saying $1000 for the rifle/scope and not worried about the cleaning kit cos I would buy one anyway. Hell I clean my hummer every 20 shots!
Anyone keen to say about elevation for shots at the 300m range for rifles? Narrowed it down to .223 and .22-250.

Re: tenterfield, folded tin with a couple of holes in it whistle
Just knocked one up myself and works pretty good for a first try! Looks rought but who cares eh? Might get a few more on the go with stuff around with different size hole to see what noise I can get out of em. Will try it on the red dogs when the wind dies a bit leter on. Dogs come in a big hurry th...

Re: Looking to go centrefire
Well the shooters are the farmers mate! However most shooting done here by hunters is quail shooting so yeah shotties are the norm. I like quail apart from when they smack you in the chest riding the bike! Don't shoot em just killing ferals is for me.

Re: Looking to go centrefire
No around here for some reason the .222 is king. Buggered if I know why. More of a shotgun area around here.

Looking to go centrefire
G'day fellas well as I said in my first post, I will be looking to get myself into centrefire shooting soon as the reddogs around here are starting to figure out that 150m is about as close to me as they can be alive at! I am looking at something that shoots nice and flat, won't break the bank or my...

Re: The 17hmr round
Well I have had mine for about 8 months and I love it. I will have a crack at lots of things within 150m as long as I can hit it's head. I have downed foxes, cats, hares, rabbits and put down a few sheep with it and besides the range limitation I have been very happy with it. But as many people have...

Re: G'day shooters!
Cheers for the advice fellas! Seems as though I will have to go all powabeam then! I mainly shoot alone as the old fella is not really up to goin out chasin the reddogs now so a roof mount is what I need. Hate those suction cap bastards as a mate has one and it comes loose 5-6 times a night. :x Also...
