Re: What reloading steps have you started that you never would have done before isolation.

With gunshops closed in WA I have taken to indexing primers so I know how many times they have been fired.

Trev I can recommend the quattromax. Made in Unzud. I’m not a fan of the tactical style clamshell ones.

Re: Ladder test new barrel

Nice shooting Brad, and as Marcus said your rifle has found its preferred load - have you chrony'd any of yet? Not that velocity makes accuracy, just out of interest. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk No chrony work yet. Judging by what components adi used to test loads, somewhere over 3700 is m...

Ladder test new barrel

223 tikka now wearing a 12 twist Krieger heavy Palma 26 inches with a zero free bore chamber and sporting a spiffy quattromax muzzle brake. First bullet tried was the 40gr varmageddon tipped in Lapua case with federal gold medal spark plug. Did an initial work up on a wet windy arvo to see how far u...

Re: 308 Win LRPs v SRPs

Interesting topic. Basically my experience: Small rifle primer and slow powder is not real productive unless there is some pressure there to help encourage a good ignition and burn. However lighter 155 class are doing well with 8208 and srp. Obviously faster powder easier to spark up. Choice of prim...

Cheers mate I will try some in the 223 with 40gr noslers. On adi site it's the best for velocity.

Re: Current state of play with 223 projectiles

What powder are you guys using mate? Those are great velocities from small cases. I would go a 223ai but it’s a whole new application here and not worth the justification hassle and fees involved.

Re: Current state of play with 223 projectiles

I’m almost 100 percent certain I’m going to do this new barrel set up for 40gr projies. The next idea that popped into my head was to run a brake on it just to help watch hits and misses. The recoil on a 223 isn’t bad by any means but at the expense of a bit more perceived noise which is no real iss...

Re: Smoker

Recipie is easy mate a cup of salt,1.5 cups brown sugar and a good glug of maple syrup. Rub it all over a bit of pork belly (cut skin off first) and put it into a baking dish. Cover with glad wrap and you will find a hell of a lot of juices come out of the pork. I let it brine for 4 days, turning it...

Re: Smoker

Is handy to keep mopping sauce warm and in winter to get the timber going a bit better I can sort of pre heat it a bit or dry it out if it’s damp. Also defrosts meat well too

Re: Smoker

On mine, yes but it’s really more a warmer plate as the temps needed for it to be a hot plate make it useless for low and slow bbq.

Re: Smoker

Bit late to this one... Nice bit of kit you made there mate! Yes to regulate heat you can use tuning plates of different widths to sort your heat flow. A really wide one near the heat entry to push the heat across into the cooking chamber more, then maybe a 10mm gap until the next one that isn’t as ...
