Thanx for that info dave, it will give me a starting point for when I pick up my special varmint (red mist).
Ive heard also that 35gr of 2208 with a 55gr hornady sp goes really well in the red mists.
Make sure you keep us informed of how you go.

Hi Dave, Welcome to Ausvarmint!!!! Im not sure about 22mag to 17hmr conversions but Im guessing it would depend on the rifle. To be honest i'd probably just buy one of the 17hmrs and sell the 22mag. But I would stay away from the stirlings if I were you. I have a 1500 in 22mag and it has an terrible...

Welcome to ausvarmint!!!! Yeah I agree about the price with the Nosler Bts'. From memory they worked out at 40 odd cents each.... Bit too much for sniping at crows and bunnies. Im going to try the 87gr speer tnts first as they are pretty cheap and I recon they might be just the medicine for explodin...

Welcome aboard nexis. As for getting your lic, I would reconmend you contact the firearms registry (1300 362 562) as there is more than one way to apply for it. I've heard also that they are now changing the safety awareness test procedure to make it a little harder..... As for a starting rifle, it ...

Virgin Brass Accuracy
Has anyone done any tests to see if accuracy is poorer when using virgin brass? I've heard that once fired brass is spose to be more accurate because it fits the chamber better but I'm wondering just how much difference there would be? Personally I dont see it making any real difference unless maybe...

Which Brass???
Just wondering what brass everyone uses???
Ive had some bad experiances with rim thinkness on 303 PMC brass!!
I've heard that without going to match quality brass, that remington make some decent shells!

Ruger VT in 25/06
My last purchase of a varmint rifle was a VT in 25/06 cal. I choose the rifle cause I have one just like it in 223, and I choose the cal because I thought it was well suited to long range varmint sniping. The VT comes with a floated barrel already and the only work I had done to it was to lighten th...

AusVarminters Project 7/08
Well Ive finally decided on the sites first project. Its going to be a tactical custom in 7mm/08. Its main use will be for long range varminting as well as picking off goats and pigs in open paddocks. After much thought I've decided to use a remmy 700 action. I'll be buying a new remington sps in 30...
