Bases and Rings for Tikka
I've always used Leupold bases and rings and while they work great, I'm getting tired of the surface rust that keeps appearing. I keep them oiled when I can but it only seems to take an overnight hunting trip to start appearing. It rubs off with an oily rag when I get to it but it's still annoying. ...

Events for improving hunting skills?
Can anyone recommend which comp/events are likely to be most beneficial for improving hunting accuracy? In the Sydney areas if possible..
Cheers.

Re: Ruger 270
Just saw the add on used guns. I wouldn't buy anything from that particular dealer. Send me a pm if you want to know why. Just my personal experience of course...
Are you close to the Blue Mountains by any chance? I might be still interested in selling my .270 remington for not much more than that.

Re: Ruger 270
I agree with Con. I really think the .270 needs a 24inch barrel to shine.
In any case, it's certainly a step up from the .243.

Re: Show Us Your All Purpose Fixed Blade Knives!
That Jungle warrior is a good blade! I belted the crap out of it and it held it's edge well. Fun knife.

Re: New 22 Q
Have a good look and feel of the American before you buy one mate. I'm not sure how the rimfire versions are but I'm pretty dissapointed with the .223 I have. It shoots ok, but fit, finish and feel leave a lot to be desired even considering the price tag.

Re: Projectile swap meet
Has anyone got any 30cal hunting pills in 150-165gr weight they'd be willing to sell or trade for 10 of? Also after some 270 cal pills in 130gr and 25cal in 100 or 110gr. I have 130gr Nosler Partitions and 140gr SST (270), 165gr Speer Hotcors, 180gr Woodleighs and 168gr Speer Match (30cal) and 87gr ...

Re: Low recoil ammo
I'm running 130gr ACP's at the moment with 47.5gr 2208 for 2920fps from the tikka lite. Usually groups around the 20mm mark but still jumps around a bit in the light rifle.
My other load with 165gr Speers certainly lets you know how it feels about being forced down the barrel.

257 Weatherby loads?
Who's using what? Looking for a medium game load using 100gr pills. Not sure if I really need to go premium pills for chest shots on deer, pigs or goats. Biggest deer is likely to be Fallow. Thinking it'll probably be my go to goat gun. I've got some 87gr Speer Hotcors but I'm not sure how they'd go...

Re: Forster Outside Neck Turner?
I can't recall what I paid for mine as it was years ago. Not a bad bit of kit though for anyone interested.
