Wish I could get a bedding that job looking that nice. I've been too hesitant to try it out myself.
Great work and thanks for the pics to help show what you did.

Glass Bedding First Try
I'm considering glass bedding my Marlin XS7 but was thinking that I should really see how it performs first.
Assuming a bedding job is done OK can it ever be detrimental to accuracy? I'd assume not but asking can't hurt.

Rifle Rebuild/repair/clean up.
My mistake would have to be with the polishing. I didn't have access to a buffing wheel or similar. What polishing I did was by hand and some polishing compound.
I used the Birchwood Casey liquid which came in a kit.

Re: Rifle Rebuild/repair/clean up.
What's your pre-bluing polishing technique? I reblued the old Sportco Model 40 and it came out OK. Some bits were fantastic (trigger guard) but other bits didn't get as nice a blue as I wanted (barrel and action). I suspect different metals react differently or perhaps I simply didn't prep enough. New to the Game
I agree with everything being suggested.
As someone who got into the sport after getting the family Sportco, its the most cost effective and fun way to start.
If you can only have one rifle curans advice to get a .223 can't be ignored. After buying a few rifles I'm yearning for a .223

Re: lazer bore sight
I use a cheap eBay special (which looks amazingly like some name brand units). Worked well on a .22LR and got me on paper with a .308W. I'd recommend them as a good starting point. what does yours look like raven ? Mine looks like the one in this link, albeit with some different coloured plastic bo...

Re: Suggestions for hearing protection
I thought I'd try my hand a Youtube. Here's a video I took at Exercise Chong Ju at Puckapunyal. To keep it relevant, you'll note the hearing protection (plugs and muffs).

Re: Suggestions for hearing protection
After 15 years working as an offset printer when i was in my early 30,s the machine i worked on produced 133DB noise levels and i found i could effectively cut out the machine noise by putting those foam ear plugs in then protective ear muffs on top, used to work great at the range shooting a 30/06...

Re: Suggestions for hearing protection
The last Hunt and Shoot podcast, where suppressors were discussed, prompted me to reconsider the hearing protection I use. Yes, suppressors would be a much better way to go as it saves the hearing of everyone in the vicinity.Marco wrote:sound suppressors for the gun!

Suggestions for hearing protection
After using the usual disposable ear plugs for a while I've decided ear muffs are probably a better bet. Does anyone have any opinions or suggestions regarding ear muffs, and are the electronic versions worth getting? Price really isn't an issue for me but I'd rather not spend a zillion dollars to d...

Re: Aldi night vision
What's the legality of these for hunting? No, I'm not trying to party poop but I'm sure I saw something in the Vic firearm legislation that prohibited night vision for hunting. From memory this was some how associated with spotlighting. I'll try to hunt up the reference again, but perhaps someone he...
