I was asked to look at an 880 a couple of months ago. Plastic Fantastic heaven. :D
Took two screws off which release some tension on the action. The flipping thing fell to bits. What was cracked plastic became jig saw plastic.

Hey Rave, You can still get them. Raytrade bring Crosmans in for their Milo Tin construction Red Ryders. Haven't looked at the ACME site recently but I thought they had H&N ones. Definitely seen Crosman at dealers. Update +5minutes. OSA still bring Gamo bbs in and they are in stock at the wareho...

Used to work in the diving industry and I have seen the damage caused by equipment failure; SCUBA valves embedded in double brick walls ect. I'm personally steering clear.

Worth noting that the UK airgun scene is asking the same questions with regards to in-line moisture traps and the limited nature of the OEM cotton wad scenario. Running a Tikka T3 Hunter in the same calibre. Used Hornady 32 & 40 grain Vmax factory ammo with great success in bedding in barrel and now paper and bunny punching. Reusing brass and also bought some new unprimed brass. Had my first lot of load testing using 40 grain Vmax, AR2219, Hornady brass...
