That's how I've always done it but the only problem is I don't want to move the cutter I'll build something to hold a mandrel and dial indicator.
Piece of piss just need to find the time.

Re: Ball Micrometer

I made it my business to find my green sinclairs calipers/ ball thickness gauge, found the readout jumping all over the show would not zero or measure any movement on the spindle and this is why I didn't use it any more as it is obviously faulty.

Re: Ball Micrometer

Had this a few years now. I use it for jacket thickness measurements. It will NOW do 17 cal. The ball measured .175" when new but 30 seconds in the lathe with some fine wet / dry brought it down to.169" I think Sinclair's do a nice one out of the states. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2...

Ball Micrometer

Before I rush out and buy one can anybody tell me what is the dia of the ball on your one, I would like to measure down to 17?
Or do I make myself a stand to use a dial indicator. Main criteria is it is imperial.

Re: Stock style/shape

With my 6BR build, wondering what shape/style of stock to look for, its gunna be a bit of an all rounder , live critter exploding, a bit of spotlight and a bit of playing at this long range BR stuff Trevor, as you can see above he is building an "all rounder" a BR stock is for one purpose...

Re: 22gn, 17 Cal researchers required

All right, I will close the books there. OL55 you may have been a little late. I will see how the number pan out. You may not get the full compliment of 50 of each. I will be in touch when I have them finished. All jackets have been made and annealed, cores cut and the cores for the SP have been sw...
