Re: 223 relaod help....

I also use the Vmax and BM2 in my 223.But my best load in a 1:9 twist barrel is 55gr ballistic tips and BM2.
The 308 is better choice for deer as everyone has pointed out.
Have a good one and welcome to the wonderfully satisfying world of reloading.

Re: Knife I Picked up in Japan

Looks a great blade. The Japanese make some beautiful gear(katanas etc).Their steel techniques are great.Hope you have years of good use or will it be for display.
Interested on how it holds its edge.

Re: Long Range B/R

Hi Pete, Do you mean new brass for the dasher and 6br every time you shoot or only for 600 and 1 k comps?I have read on several US sites that most of the really tight groups (at long range) were shot wilst fire forming brass for the 6mm. That RUM is really flying!Bit of a bugger on the brass though....

Re: Long Range B/R

Hi Pete, Gotta agree about the 6br when you read wrong. In F open the 6.5's will go to 9 or mabe 8 if its a big mistake with the 6br you go straight to 8 or 7. I like mine to 600/700 but at 800 and out I sometimes feel I am giving up too much to the 6.5 etc.Maybe I'll save enough and screw on a diffe...

Re: Long Range B/R

Hi Peter. I'm always interested in your opinon.I shoot a 6mmBR in F open and I'm competive most of the time.Any failure is usually associated with my wind reading rather then the rifle. I have also shot a lot of magnums and when I was younger my motto was more power is the answer. Now I find skill an...

Re: Need thoughts before 0700 tomorrow.

Hi Muttang, I haven't seen many bad Tikka's.They mostly shoot well, with a little load work they shoot very well. I owned a couple of weatherbys at different times and they were good rifles but sometimes needed a little more work in bedding etc.The new ones I haven't used so I can't say wether that ...

Re: Does rain effect bullet flight path.??

Hi Tony, I actually think that might be considered torrential.Someone needs to invent wipers for the scope if you have to shoot in that. You did well to hit the target. I think they had something like that at Canberra Queens a few years back where the blokes who got caught in it were empting the wate...

Re: Does rain effect bullet flight path.??

I have never had much trouble with rain effecting the bullet over normal distances.(Not talking torrential down pours either). One bonus of rain is that it gives a very good indication of wind. You actually see the effects gusts have.Have shot some good scores in F class on wet days. rus,the Tasco World Class Plus made in Japan are okay.As has been said the Chinese are crap. They fall apart under recoil. They don't have very good repeatabilty in their movement etc.
good luck,

I use 52gr A max in my 22-250AI and they are superbly accurate and very deadly. I use both B/T and V max in the 223 and have found the B/t's fractionaly more accurate but both very explosive. The blitzkings never made a good load in this rem. 243 was a straight Sierria hollow point. 6mmBr likes berge...

I bought a Sako TRG(I know its strictly not a varmiter)but it was a platform I always liked.
Savage/Rem/Tikka ah hell I'd like one of each but I'm trying to save for one more custom,oh well so many rifles and so little cash.

Another vote for night force scopes.I run two and they are great. The weight has never been a problem. I have had the opportunity to look through and shoot a bit with a Zeiss and it was quite a remarkably clear bit of glass. Wondering if anyone is running a varix3 loopy 8.5 x 25 x50? If so have you h...

Gotta agree with jimbo, the 7mm-08 is a good sillohuette round and a versatile hunting round as well.Won't jar as much as the 30-06. I'd guess it was one of the most used calibers in metallic sillohuette.
Straight 308 is okay too.
