Re: First Knife from scratch

Thanks heaps Ted. For the heat treat process I did a bit of reading and then pretty much followed this guide that Bjorn wrote https://creativeman.com.au/blog/how-to-heat-treating-12c27-stainless-steel/ and the Sandvik data sheet, somewhere in there was a table with soak time vs thickness and that is...

Re: Welder

for limited home use stick to stick. I haven't looked into the specifics but a little inverter stick is very portable, nice smooth arc. Just make sure that its 10amp lead if you don't have 15amp sockets at home  Migs are great but with many more moving parts and eletronics there is more to go w...

Re: load data for 17 hornady hornet

I will have to double check my load data but I'm using the 20gr nosler varmageddon projectiles and the seem to get the job done and have no reason to change. I'm using 2207 around 11.0 or 11.1 off the top of my head. Rifle is a cz527 varmint

Re: Hornady ELD

The others have said most of it but also look at different powder, 2208 was better suited to heavies in my 223 - also make sure your barrel twist rate is something like 1:8 or 1:9 if its standard 1:12 you will be slinging them all over the place sideways

Re: what type/brand of paint is used on a fiberglass rifle stock ??

depends how durable you want it, easiest and cheapest but least durable would be some acrylic automotive spray cans, next would be 2 pack auto/industrial paint which I believe you can get in spray cans as well but i am guessing it would be pretty pricey. then you get into the cerecoats duracoat type...
