G'day folks,
I know this bloke personally, and have done a couple of his courses; Basic Blacksmithing, and Toolmaking and Heat Treatment. He's a trade qualified blacksmith, and a very good bloke too.

Re: Taipan Bullets - Malcolm's final stock clearance

Only any good if there is ongoing supply. No supply = No bloody point. Well, some of us just happen to be past Taipan customers. And as such, this is our last chance to top up on a few bullet types we've tested and proven... As it very much remains to be seen just how much, of the [extensive] forme...

Re: Fiocchi primers 204R

Looks like the SR Magnums would be the go for .204R, according to Fiocchi Italy; https://www.fiocchi.com/en/category/products-by-line-components-centerfire-components-primers/line/boxer-primers-line-taxon Higher piercing resistance would mean thicker cup, I'd say. Looks like their .204R factory ammo...

Re: Build project: DIY checkering cradle from metal junk

Just as an interlude while I get the next set of pics edited, here's another 'top tool' made to fit this stand. Oxy torch holder This is a pretty simple one. When doing small forging jobs, it's much quicker and easier to use torch heating [oxy-LPG in my case] than to light up the charcoal fired forg...

Re: Build project: DIY checkering cradle from metal junk

Been watching that on AHN, nifty gadget and well done, :D but you have to smooth out all the welds, and rub it back and paint it, there is only room for one R.A.F. Productions here. Can't stick weld for shit ATM, 'Man Flu' has given me a bad case of the shakes. The 'new' FleaBay $100 Chinee 2...

Build project: DIY checkering cradle from metal junk

G'day folks, Over the past week or two, I've been putting a checkering cradle together, from old water pipe and fittings. This will be one of the 'top tools' that fit on a base stand that I threw together a while back, also from basically bits and pieces from my 'useful scrap metal' pile. My inspira...

G'day pepperC, Don't know offhand what smiths there are in your area. But two I can highly recommend in Vic for rifle work are Bob DeVries at Kudu Services in Montrose, Tel (03) 9728 5430, and Kevin Sharp of RE Sharp & Sons in Bairnsdale, Tel (03) 5152 6999. Both of these blokes are 'by appointm...

Re: BCF 60% Smoker Flash Sale

Got the Charmate Medium for $67.99. How did I do that? Joined their Customer Club before I went over to have a look at the unit, and they e-mailed me a $20 discount coupon, valid in-store only for total purchase >$100. So I just added a couple of $11.99 bags of wood chips [Apple and Mesquite] to get...

Thanks, folks.
Rabbitz, very nice work there; and it's interesting that a Google on 'Tru-Oil' brings up a lot of musical instrument pages - luthiers seem to like it too!

My Winnie 94 Tru-Oil Stock Refinish

G'day folks, here's a brief 'how it were done' with some 'after' pics, of a refinish I did a while back. Created some interest recently over at AHN, so here 'tis for AusVarmint. The rifle is 1975 built, from the single batch of Standard M94 Carbines in .44/40WIN, that Winchester built exclusively fo...
