Re: 30 cal deer projectiles

I use a B&T Energetics 180g thru the 30/06 and seems to work just fine :D I have also poked a couple of 160g accubonds into Fallow which work just fine too. As per Micks post the 30/30 can be used to good effect on the big brown deer which I used a 150g woody in. Not that hard to kill, you'll ge...

Re: Something I find a little odd.........

I was looking at some 275 Rigby data (well OK 7x57) and Nosler list the 160 accubond max with IMR4350 at 46g for 2622fps where as ADI with 2209 (same powder I believe) and 160g partition a max of 42.5g for 2399fps.

That is a massive difference!

I guess some are just over conservative

Camel wrote: Tue Feb 20, 2018 5:05 pm I think from memory Waldo got around that speed with his 5.6x57 which is a lot bigger case. I am skeptical. :D
I believe Waldo got around 3299fps with the 75g Amax, factory FMJ's were clocked at 3371fps so fair chance there was still a bit to go?

Why don't you give some of those Varmint R B&T's a trot and see how they go?

Re: A few test shots with prototype ACP .22 calibre pills

I tried em in a couple of different cals but was not overly impressed with them, never poked one into blood and bone though.

That said I did score the 5.6x57 from the experience so all was not lost :D

Similar to the Barnes copper solids so just start with their data and you should be OK.

Re: Tumbling/ Keyholing.

I have a late 70's Sako .17 Rem that sends the 25g vmax sideways and prints a perfect side on profile of the pill on target, still doesn't group half bad   Went back to the old fashioned 25g HP and it shoots like a trooper 8)
