Re: neck sizing dies
Guys, I don't know much about it, only won the SCC HG five times. The bushing die is the ducks nuts, it doesn't stretch cases, but more importantly, doesn't cause the neck to be off centre to the case, and bore. Tests by JR showed more than 3 thou runout causes dispersion in group, bushing neck dies...

Re: 2018 1000yd BR SCC and 600yd BR
Dave,
I have bookings for myself and Trev, and wait for it,,,, TZ. So we will arrive Tuesday early afternoon, then normal service. I admit to being a little concerned your local blokes won't be there for a Friday 1000yd comp.
Be good to catch up, hopefully will have a 2 gun option.

Townsville 28-4 Results
Guys,
Results from our last shoot, sorry they are a bit late, been busy. I was happy with a good LG group at 1000yd. Don shot his second smallest ever at 1000yd too.

Townsville Shoot 7-4-2018
Well,
We got both a 1000yd and a 600 yd in today, weather was warm to hot, winds light and unsettled, however sighting was ok throughout most of the day, we didn't have to resort to large spotter plugs.
Results are as below.

Re: Stock Rigidity
Dave,
My next stock will fix it all. 20kg of 32mm alloy plate, 200mm wide forend. Torque? What Torque? Just as well the rules say the gun only has to be man portable, not how many men.

Re: Stock Rigidity
Dave, I would either have a deep butt, but with wings, like TZ does, or go to the two rail wide rear end. Even JR's gun had a wing of sorts, in that it had the butt coming down from a flat plane that rode on top of the ears of the bag. I think one of the advantages of having the wings is you don't g...

Re: Quickload
Trev, Cover your arse mate, quickload doesn't know that the barrel is a lump of junk from Tobler and is 1.6thou undersize, or that the punters scales are out of whack. Give them a starting number, then hunker down behind something solid and let them work up, it's much safer for you, and them too!! J...

Re: Projectile RPM limits...
Guys, I know SMK 6mm 107 gr will blow up at 320 000 rpm, nearly blew old Trev up with one at the range while he was in the butts. Not a scratch on the paper, but a big grey mist at about 980 yds. Also blew some up at about 50 yards. I used to have a 100 yd target with a perfect little comet trail of...

Re: Tumbling/ Keyholing.
Guys, Evinrude engine clean for the carbon, with a bronze brush. sweets with a nylon brush, then with an alloy jag. If this doesn't clean it, 40 or 50 strokes with Bore Bright. TZ has a Swann .17 barrel he seems pretty happy with, and he is very complementary about the service as well. My two bob's ...

Re: Barrel Tuners (not rimfire)
Rod,
I will be able to move the barrel in the block to find the best tune, then I will build a proper stock to suit. Interesting, my second 50mm barrel is here now, so I can get a tune for it too. That will give me a tune for 200 to 210 in one barrel, and a tune for 187 - 200 in the other.

Re: Barrel Tuners (not rimfire)
Brad, that is exactly what I am building at the moment, a rig to be able to move the barrel in the block, from breach to muzzle, and still be able to shoot it. Only challenge is it's a 50mm straight barrel.

Re: Barrel Tuners (not rimfire)
Tony,
I will be building my test rig starting tomorrow, so we can have a good play with the numbers. I will be keen to see if a 100mm square by 200mm long barrel block can influence a 50mm barrel, shooting a 187 gr bullet at over 3k fps.
