Re: Do I keep it ?

Well sorry I will have to say no 220 Swift for a couple of reasons.Firstly The swift case will not reliably feed with the 22/250 follower. In the L579 for example the Swift used a different follower to the 22/250 as well as the 243/308. Not sure whether the Swift was available in the M591 so getting...

Re: JB Bore Paste or Bore Brite

One issue Ive heard with Borebright is that it can make the bore too smooth and shiny, which ends up collecting more copper than usual.

Re: Do I keep it ?

So I bought a Rusty old Sako M591 with a shot out barrel and a boogered up recoil lug. The trigger had been farked with or as THOD would say fucked with  I had a 6mm barrel fitted, a Rem style recoil lug and a Barnyard Tikka Trigger fitted Slotted it into an "F"class stock.............

Re: 221 fireball custom build

Keene that looks lovely. I used to have a 221 Fireball, also using L461 action but was using Remington brass. I can’t remember the exact loads but the loads I did settle on were 35gn Vmax and 2205 for a slightly quieter load on a smaller property and then I did a lot of plinking with 2207 and 40gn T...

Re: Kahles

Well there is a bit of a story to tell. Hours or maybe minutes after I received the Kahles I was out in the paddock sighting in at 100m. I thought wow check the clarity out 20 cal bullet holes were easily visible in the early evening light. Happy would have been an understatement :D :D 8) Checked o...

Re: Flash Hole sizes ADI vs OSA .223

With 308s, there is quite a bit of evidence of smaller flash holes reducing velocity spread, and hence long range accuracy once they reduce .080" flash holes to .060". However I have also read that this did not translate straight acrodd to the 223. From the small amount I have heard, a sli...

Re: Hydro Forming Dies

Or you could just load up with trail boss and cheap, pulled or no other use bullets. Trail boss fireforming is relatively quiet and doesn't heat the barrel up, so throat erosion not an issue.

Re: Barnard Tikka T3 Trigger

Great they bought one of these triggers out. The Tikka T3 is one of the most popular hunting rifles in Australia, so a good idea for Barnard. No need for a safety, open your bolt when you aren't ready to fire.

Re: 17 vs 20cal

Another vote for 17 Rem here. People only go for the big bad 20 cals to over compensate for small willies. G'day Rod. You still using your .308 to shoot rabbits like at the Missethon a few years back?   Marcus No it has been turned into a 6SLR but I am contemplating using a 270WSM w...
